  43. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
  44.  
  45. ExitWin 3.2b - A simple but very elegant utility that makes leaving 
  46. Windows as easy as one click! ExitWin will exit Windows, exit 
  47. and re-start Windows, exit and run a DOS app or exit and reboot
  48. quickly with one click, two clicks or HotKey press configurable 
  49. from the settings menu. To exit Windows and run a DOS app, drag a DOS app 
  50. from file manager or an NDW drive window and drop it on the Exit sign (see 
  51. note below). Other settings include Always On Top (CTRL+T) 
  52. of all running apps, Lock Current Position (CTRL+L), Confirm Exit and 
  53. hide or show settings button. Use Select Sound File to configure 
  54. ExitWin to play a standard .wav file at exit (GLASS.WAV is included). The
  55. Use Sound menu selection turns the selected sound on and off. The Utilize Timer 
  56. selection allows you to define a specific time to automatically exit Windows.
  57. To move ExitWin around your screen, drag it by the green and white EXIT sign 
  58. (Lock Position must be off). ExitWin will remember it's last screen position. 
  59. Use Set Password to password protect the exit to DOS and settings menu. Password 
  60. must be composed of the numbers 1 to 9 and may be up to eight characters in length. 
  61. Clicking on the Exit sign or minimized icon with the right mouse button will activate 
  62. the settings menu. Press F3 to minimize or return program to normal size. Shareware.

  65. *Running a DOS application*
  66.  
  67. This feature is useful if you need to exit windows to run a DOS application or game
  68. that does not behave well in a DOS box. Drag the .exe or .com file from file manager
  69. or equivalent and drop it on the Exit sign. NOT ALL DOS APPS WILL RUN IN THIS WAY. If 
  70. the app won't run this way all you will see is an error message and Windows will 
  71. immediately restart.

  73. *Password Security*
  74.  
  75. One of the features of ExitWin is the ability to password protect the
  76. exit to DOS and settings menu. You can enter these items in PROGMAN.INI to 
  77. achieve control over what the user can do with program manager. This was taken 
  78. from the Windows 3.1 Resource Kit documentation page 221.

  80. NoRun=1             will disable the Run command on the file menu.
  81. NoClose=1           will not allow users to exit Windows from program manager
  82. NoSaveSettings=1    disables save settings on exit option 
  83. NoFileMenu=1           removes the file menu from program manager

  85. Setting the entry to 0 will enable the item.

  129. Run SETUP.EXE. All distribution files will be copied to the directory of your choice 
  130. (.VBX & .DLL files will be placed in your Windows/System directory). For optimal 
  131. ease of use, it is recommended that you have ExitWin automatically load when 
  132. Windows is started by placing the ExitWin icon in the Startup or Autostart group.
